You can be highly sensitive and safe to be visible
Spiritual and leadership coach Catherine Andrews notes “you can be a highly sensitive person. You can be an empath. You can be somebody who maybe feels a little more introverted, a little more shy.
“And that’s okay. That’s part of your gift, but it doesn’t mean you don’t get to have authentic expression. It doesn’t mean it’s not safe to be visible.”

In her post “What happened when I stopped hiding” (on her Substack site The Sunday Soother), she comments:
“For much of my life, I was deeply shy and mostly wanted to be invisible.
“Not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because being seen felt deeply unsafe. Every time I spoke up or shared something real, my whole system would go into red alert.
“Heart pounding, stomach twisting, palms sweating, flop sweat everywhere. (It’s honestly impressive how much the human body can produce under pressure.)
“So I did what many of us sensitives do: I stayed quiet. I stayed small. I perfected instead of participated. I waited to feel “ready,” which basically meant waiting forever.”
