The Dalai Lama

“I only know that people who are getting into this archetype of the tortured poet end up really torturing themselves to death.” Musician Sting

“There's enough pain in the world that you don't have to live in it to represent it in some artistic way." Actor Colin Farrell

In his book The Art of Happiness, The Dalai Lama claims:

“Whether one believes in religion or not, the very purpose of our life, the very motion of our life is towards happiness.”

But many of us may not be so sure about that notion.

Of course, the idea of “happiness” is variable and imprecise: it is not just a simple state of mind or experience that everyone shares or agrees about.
